Jewfish Key Residence from the beach and bay

Jewfish Key is a private island in Sarasota Bay just off Longboat Key, with no bridge and no cars, so every crew, tool, and truss for this home arrived by water. That makes it one of the most logistically demanding builds Ross Built has completed, and one of the most rewarding: an elevated island home with wraparound porches and a metal roof, surrounded on all sides by the bay.

Inside, the design is modern coastal with an organic edge. A black steel open stair rises through the center of the plan, white oak cabinetry pairs with a black island in the kitchen, and reclaimed-wood ceiling accents, a driftwood chandelier over the dining table, and sky-blue tile in the baths bring the island’s textures indoors.

Bunk rooms sleep a crowd, and nearly every room, including the primary suite, opens to a porch and the water beyond.

Recognition: Best in American Living Awards 2025, Silver (One-of-a-Kind Custom Home). Southern Living Custom Builder Program Showcase Home, 2024.
