Where We Build / Longboat Key

Building on Jewfish Key

Jewfish Key is a small private island just inside Longboat Pass. There is no bridge, so a home here is built by water. Every load of concrete, every truss, every window and every member of the crew crosses on a barge or a boat.

We have done it. The Jewfish Key Residence was completed in 2024, and it taught us how to schedule, stage and protect a project when nothing can be delivered by truck.

Barge Logistics

Materials are staged on the mainland and moved by barge on a schedule set by the weather and by what the crew needs next.

Longer Lead Times

A missed delivery costs a day, not an hour. Ordering and sequencing are worked out well ahead.

Crew Transport

Every trade is brought over and back by boat, every day.

Pre-Construction

On an island, problems are solved on paper first. The planning phase is longer here, and it is worth it.
