SARASOTA BAYFRONT
The mainland neighborhoods along Sarasota Bay, from Indian Beach and Sapphire Shores to Harbor Acres and Oyster Bay.
Building on the Sarasota Bayfront
West of the Tamiami Trail, Sarasota’s mainland neighborhoods run right down to the bay. Lots are larger than on the keys, the trees are older, and the houses range from 1920s Mediterranean Revival to mid-century Sarasota School modern to new construction.
It is a setting that rewards careful work on both new homes and old ones. Our restoration of the Van Wezel Estate on Lido Key is the best example of how we handle a house with history.
Historic Character
Some homes and neighborhoods carry historic designation. That affects what can be changed and how it is reviewed.
Mature Sites
Grand trees are part of the value here. We protect them through construction, with an arborist when needed.
Bay Frontage
Seawalls, docks and shoreline setbacks are part of any bay-front plan.
Flood Zones Vary
Elevation requirements change from street to street. A survey and a flood determination come first.
